Seasoned Oven Fries

Making great oven fries is a two-step process: steaming the fries, which makes them creamy and soft on the inside and roasting the fries, which creates a crispy exterior. These baked French fries are seasoned with our Gourmet Chili Blend for a flavorful kick and make a great side dish for beef, chicken or pork.

Crispy Baked French Fries (Oven Fries)

We all know baked French fries are healthier than fried ones, but it can be hard to achieve the right texture in the oven. In order to get that crispy exterior, you need to roast them at a high temperature, but the inside of the fries don’t always cook properly this way.
Our two-step process that fixes this problem. Follow this recipe and you’ll get soft-on-the-inside and crispy-on-the-outside oven fries every time you make them. Serve the seasoned fries with a Flank Steak Sandwich or Stuffed Chicken Breasts for a delicious dinner.

Oven Fries Seasoning

The first step is to season the potatoes. Our Gourmet Chili Blend has the perfect balance of flavors and gives the fries a kick of flavor. Just combine the seasoning and oil in a bowl and set it aside while you prep the potatoes

How to Cut the Potatoes

Slice the potatoes into wedges approximately ½” to 1” thick. For more even baking, cut the potatoes into similar sizes. Wedges are a good shape as opposed to sticks because more surface area means more crispy goodness.

Steam the Potatoes

For oven fries that have creamy interiors steam the potatoes first. Place the sliced potatoes in a bamboo steamer and steam them for 20 minutes.

Remove the potatoes from the steamer baskets and toss them with the chili seasoned oil. The aroma is wonderful, so take a taste to adjust the seasoning as needed.

At this point, the potatoes can be covered with plastic wrap and roasted later. They even keep in the refrigerator overnight.

Roast the Fries

To roast the seasoned potatoes, place them on a rimmed baking sheet and into the hot oven on the upper middle rack. For the crispiest oven fries, give each slice plenty of space on the baking sheet.
After the oven fries have roasted for about 15 minutes, flip them over and let them roast for about another 15 minutes.

Season the fries with a few pinches of salt and serve with your favorite dipping sauce. We love ketchup, BBQ sauce or Ranch dressing. Dip. Dredge. Eat. Repeat!
